As part of the College’s Healthy Living Month in January, K College’s Student Services Team worked with Optimise Fitness to give students at the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells (North Farm) campuses the opportunity to try some of the state of the art equipment the gym has to offer.
Feedback from the students was very positive and many were keen to try everything out. On offer were boxing gloves, rowers, stability balls, weights and of course up-beat music to get everyone going! One student commented "At lunchtime there is little to do, so to have the option of trying out the equipment was great fun". Paula Millen, Health and Fitness Manager of Optimise Fitness, and runs the gym on the Tonbridge campus, said: "North Farm has a fantastic atmosphere and the students were really welcoming and willing to try things out. We are currently working with Student Services to offer future events over at North Farm". During the day a competition was held to see who could row 1,000 metres the fastest. This event always gets students to push themselves more than normal and this day was no exception. The winner completed the Row in a fantastic time of 3.58 minutes and received 3 months free membership for Optimise Fitness. These events have proved so popular Student Services and Optimise are now running taster sessions regularly at both campuses. Over the coming weeks, it is hoped to allow students free access sessions in the gym and to run free taster classes. |
